Biography

The big dream was to create a dance music festival that like-minded ravers could come to to party ‘like we use to’ so Lee took the plunge and ‘Reminisce Festival’ was born... Bringing in legendary acts from all over the globe.With Lee, you can expect absolute club classics, the hottest new house tracks and a night full of the biggest tunes.

Lee was without doubt swept away by house music and was a full-on raver when the dance scene erupted in 1989 – music was his first love and buying vinyl and wanting to be a DJ was his goal. Every penny Lee had was spent on vinyl and having partied at raves up and down the country, Lee decided he wanted to be the one spinning the tunes.

It was in The State that Lee made his name and came up with the now legendary Monster Jam nights. Locking out every week, Lee was creating a style of DJ’ing all of his own, with his now famous acapella use creeping into his mixing more and more, soon Lee was being chased by all the major clubs in the Northwest.

Soon enough, Lee was playing at gigs and clubs all over the Northwest; The State, The Buzz, Wigan Pier, Bowlers, Maxines, The Pleasure Drome, Nation, Garlands & Mr Smiths are just a few of the big-name venues Lee was being asked to rock the rafters at week after week.

It was at this time, Club 051 came in with an offer Lee couldn’t refuse, and so Lee made the move to Mount Pleasant, and the 051 was the new place to be. In partnership with Dave Graham, Lee was about to embark on the latest chapter of his tour around the club scene.

Lee subsequently went on to rock clubs in Ibiza and The BCM in Magaluf… He has been voted Liverpool Echo 24/7 “DJ of the Year” 6 times along with last year receiving the Liverpool Echo “Outstanding Achievement Award” and the awards stand proud next to his decks to this day. Having partied with the likes of Tinchy strider / Robin S / Prof Green / Alexis Jordan / Judge Jules / Farley Jackmaster Funk / Daryl Pandy / Rozalla just to name a few… There was only one thing left to do

Lee’s “Plastic Surgery” show soon became the North West’s most listened to Friday Night Dance Show and is still an iconic part of Liverpool Radio today as he presents that same show every Friday from 10pm on his own station, In Demand Radio.

In Demand Radio launched on DAB in November 2020 for Liverpool and the Northwest. At In Demand, Lee Butler takes prime position, hosting the ‘Brekky Butler’ weekday breakfast show, as well as Plastic Surgery. The award-winning DJ also joins some of the best of local talent such as Steve Cocky, Rick Houghton, Dave Graham, Ian Longo, Billie Clements and Gemma Cutting plus many international DJs such as Tiesto, Armin Van Burren, Roger Sanchez and Judge Jules who all have weekly shows on the station.

The first Reminisce festival took place in 2014 and was a resounding success. The second year saw the capacity double and a switch from an all-day party to more of a festival vibe – with the addition of two more tents, extra bars and a fun fair. Since then, the festival has gone from strength to strength and in 2021 Reminisce was a total sell-out, with 20,000 descending on Sherdley Park for a day and night of magic.
