Ace (1Xtra)

Ace also known as DJ Ace, also known as one half of legendary radio duo Ace & Vis has been a DJ/radio host and presenter for over 10 years you can catch him regularly on BBC 1xtra or tearing down clubs across the world..

As an alumni from the world renowned Brit Performing Arts School, Ace and his partner in troublemaking, Vis, were signed up by then fledgling radio station BBC 1xtra after being sought out for their attention grabbing radio demo.
Dominating the airwaves the Ace & Vis BBC 1xtra show awarded the duo a Gold Sony Radio Academy Award for their lunchtime show, eventually securing them the (every Radio host coveted) daily 4 – 7 pm drive time slot. Their skills often led them to standing in for many of the stations premier presenters including Radio veteran, DJ Trevor Nelson.
Ace & Vis’ on air bond and audience appeal led to the duo fronting cult music and lifestyle program “The Illout Show” on British satellite Grime channel, Channel AKA, (formerly known as Channel U). Interviewing big music stars such as 50 Cent, T.I., Kano, Wiley, Estelle and many more The Illout Show became the must go to place for any musician who wanted that underground seal of approval. The Illout Show led by Ace & Vis also cemented their love, championing, and some could say propelling of British Grime and Hip Hop to the forefront of mainstream industry and chart acceptance.

The duos penchant for cheekiness and troublemaking eventually awarded them the task of presenting and then hosting for the UK’s premier black music award show The MOBO’s and hosting shows for MTV which took them around the world, including Japan, New York and Jamaica. Because of their ever increasingly busy schedule the Ace & Vis BBC 1xtra radio show eventually moved to the weekend drive time slot, allowing the duo to seek other ventures.
Ace with his stellar DJ skills started racking up Djing gigs around the world making pit stops at infamous Ibiza and Ayia Napa venues. Reporting from Ghana during the African Nations cup and during the Summer of 2012 went on the ”Ace Of Clubz” DJ Tour in Ghana where he DJ’d in some of Ghana’s top night clubs and Co-Hosted a show on Ghana’s premier radio station YFM. Ace also headlined top UK events for the BBC, MTV and Ministry of Sound to name a few. Working under the new brand name , ‘Ace of Clubz’ Ace has also been dominating the London Club circuit. With residencies at BUMP, Faded & Nostalgic Nights, he recently co-started a new Hip Hop night called “The Source” and an Old school 90′s club night called “Reminisce”.

After doing a stint as a stand up comedian for charity Ace has been flexing his comedy writing muscles and is working on some new comedy projects. He also co-created and hosts online chat show “Cut the Chat”, which has been described as “Loose Women” for men. Cut the Chatis a show that provides the opportunity for hosts and guests alike to converse with honesty and humour about issues that are often ignored or bypassed by other talk shows utilising the spirit of your local Barber Shop. Recent Guests have included Adam Deacon, Tim Campbell, Boy Better Know, Doneao, Ashley Walters & Eddie Kadi. The regular live shows take place at The Roundhouse Theatre: Cutthechat.co.uk
As a way of giving back to the platform which helped launch his career Ace lends his Radio skills knowledge and support to the Brit School’s radio show Brit FM. Each summer Ace returns to give advice to students and future radio broadcasters.

If that wasn’t enough, Ace’s personable character and generally zany and cheeky personality has also afforded him a network of close friends and supporters within various areas of the industry. Evident after interviewing top WWE wrestlers Stone Cold Steve Austin, Randy Orton, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley Edge, Shameus, and many more Ace was flown out to Atlanta, Miami & New York in 2011,  2012 & 2013 to cover the annual Wrestlemania events.
Last year year, DJ Ace was nominated for a BEFFTA Award in the "DJ of the Year" category. He also has extended his talent to the acting world with a small role in popular British drama Eastenders spin off “E:20” and was seen in British film “It’s A lot” which was out late last year. The film was written & directed by Femi Oyeniran and also stars Femi Oyeniran, Jazzie Zonzolo, Red Madrell, Kojo, Eddie Kadi, Ellen Thomas, Roxanne Pallett, Jack Doolan, Vas Blackwood, Tim Westwood and more. Described as a brand new urban comedy featuring the stars of Anuvahood and Adulthood.
