Marc Vedo

Over the past 18 months electronic music has literally gripped the attention of the world. Bringing new impetus to the scene with rap stars and pop idols teaming up with electronic producers to create chart topping mega-hits, Marc also found his own optimum form achieving a sturdy rise through the ranks to join many of his peers on the big stage – from DJing at 150 shows in more than 35 countries at events such as Glastonbury, Berlin Festival, Elle Style Awards, Official Formula 1 After parties in Singapore, Monaco, Dubai, Sao Paulo and New Delhi, the DJ Magazine’s Top100 DJ Awards ceremony at Ministry of Sound, Amsterdam Dance Event and Space in Ibiza. While more recently he performed in front of his biggest crowd to date with a headline slot at Street Parade Switzerland to a wild 900,000 people on the streets of Zurich.

Last year also saw the release of the second installment of his popular Koolwaters 365 compilation series. Episode 2 in the series featured a host of box fresh tracks from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Freemason's, D.Ramirez, Moguai, Marco V plus many more. Whilst his own studio output in 2011 had Marc remix pop icons in Boy George and more recently George Michael’s new single ‘Every Other Lover In The World’. Having not released much original material since his 2004 album ‘Patience’ this new release from George Michael sees something of a different direction for him musically. At the request of George himself, Marc was asked to deliver a straight up club track that evokes all the soul of George’s voice with the energy and drive of a typical Vedo house record. The single is due for release later this year and will also accompany George’s new artist album.

2011 also saw Marc launch a new recording label - VG Records - with frequent tour comrade Boy George. The pair have since taken their label to the masses and achieved much success. Amongst the labels more notable fans is Roger Sanchez, David Tort and Axwell, clocking up support for a range of releases that so far include ‘Sunshine into my life’ (featuring Sharlene Hector of Bassment Jaxx fame) and ‘Don’t’ Take the Night’ – the latter is one of the recent offerings from the label.

Away from VG Records, Marc’s productions have been applying the same overwhelming effect. His music straddles the line between crossover house and underground club cuts, just ask his various supporters Chris Lake, StoneBridge and Erick Morillo all of whom have backed his tracks in recent times. With playlist support from stations like BBC Radio 1, Capital, Kiss FM, Marc’s been able to forge a highly intuitive skill as a producer for making records that cut it on the airwaves but which can also rumble a dancefloor to its knees.

Marc’s development as an electronic music artist these past few years has lead to him securing a mass of exposure within the worlds media, those include E! News, Elle, Attitude, Gay Times, Datatransmission, Club Planet and Tilllate magazine. Following his climb to take the 260 spot in the 2011 Top 100 DJ Poll, DJ Magazine also enlisted Marc as one of the guests on their coveted DJ Mag Podcast, going out to over half a million people across the globe.

In a year that saw a tour diary read like the departures board at Heathrow airport what does 2012 have install for this rising globetrotting house star? Back from a short break in January, during which he installed a new Bristol based studio, Marc is shortly to embark on a grueling run of shows over the coming months with dates in Austria, Russia, Italy, South America and Asia all booked.

Already his schedule for 2012 looks full with various studio projects confirmed. First up is his second single ‘Chemical Fatboy’ on Koolwaters Records. An instrumental juggernaut, ‘Chemical Fatboy’ has so far been licensed to Hed Kandi’s latest Twisted Disco and looks set to be a popular record for many a DJ in the first quarter of 2012. Marc’s next single on VG Records is a collaboration with label partner Boy George titled ‘Kalino Mome’ and which features Bulgarian pop Queen Desi on vocals. February will see a new EP from Marc out on Housesessions along with his remix of Boy George’s next club release ‘Brand New’ on Decode Records. Marc also has a release coming out on Germany’s Haiti Grooves called ‘House Bomb’ and a remix scheduled for UK act Evie’s uplifting vocal track ‘Habibi’. New collaborations for 2012 include projects with Ministry of Sound’s resident Michael Woods, Skin (Skunk Anansie), Abigail Bailey, David Penn, Afrojack, R3hab, Dirty Secrets, Jesse Voorn, Tara MacDonald and Corey Andrews of Stealth Records fame.

Such was the foray of Marc’s growth over last year that 2012 is highly expected to be his strongest, most forward moving year so far. Which perhaps explains why both DJ Magazine and Pioneer have enlisted Marc has one of their Pro resident DJs..
